This legislation sets strict guidelines with regard to phone system recycling and other unwanted electrical and electronic equipment such as telephone systems, CCU's and PABX etc.
Recycling – Costs
There are 3 basic scenarios in providing recycling services for telephone systems and phones etc
1. Free recovery and recycling of Telecoms equipment
A free recovery happens when there is enough second hand value in the items being recovered to cover the cost of time, labour and any other recycling requirements under the current WEE regulations.
2. Part paid - Part charged recovery and recycling of Telecoms equipment
This occurs when there is some value in the telephones and or systems being recovered for recycling but not sufficient to cover the cost of time, labour and recycling under the WEE regulations.
3. A charged recovery for recycling Telecoms equipment
A charge would be applied when there is NO value in the items being recovered for recycling under the current WEE regulations. All items would be removed and destroyed accordingly. It is now illegal for any business or local authority to dispose of any electrical equipment via the local refuge tip.
